First Blog!
This is my first post on my first blog! This is a big month for me as I also just finished my first novel, tentatively titled, The Other Side of the Mountains. Here is my hook for my query letter: When seventeen year old Anabar leaves his sheltered valley home to train to become a warrior, he has no idea that instead of fighting, his destiny will lead him to bring peace to the two nations linked to his past.

I finally jumped in this week and started ending queries for my novel. I sent 18 and received three form rejections within two days. I am realistic about this, and continue to work on my query letter.
ReplyDeleteI've posted it on the Query Tracker.net forums and received some good feedback. I think I am including too much summary information. One person told me to include more names of locations, but I am trying to be concise.
I just discovered the Query Shark blog, and I like what the agent there is doing. She knows good writing and provided specific feedback. I plan on reading everything there.
